Canada Provincial Nominee Program by Province: PNP Ontario

Ontario PNP

Ontario, Canada is a pleasing province full of diverse wildlife, landscapes, and culture. With a population of more than 13.5 million, Ontario is home to about 2 in 5 Canadians, and 49.6% of all Canadian immigrants in the first quarter of 2021!

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the province’s immigration or nominee program. It works in partnership with the Government of Canada through Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada and helping people obtain Citizenship in Canada. The Ontario PNP application is open to foreign workers, international students, and others with the right working skills for the province’s economic needs.

So, what is the Canada Provincial Nominee Program application process like?

1. Do you qualify?

There are three ways you may qualify for a nomination from Ontario PNP:

  • Employer job offer category: if you already have a permanent job offer from an Ontario employer

  • Human capital category: for workers who have valuable work experience, education, language skills, as well as a profile in the Canada Express Entry system

  • Business category: for entrepreneurs looking to start a new business or buy an existing business in Ontario

2. Make your profile!

Create an Ontario PNP profile according to the stream you choose to apply for. If you have everything you need in your profile and are approved, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for Canadian immigration!

3. Complete your application with the OINP

You can do this through the Ontario PNP Portal. You will also need to pay the application fee, which is:

  • $1,500 or $2,000 for the employer job offer and human capital streams

  • $3,500 per business partner or key staff applicant for business streams

4. Apply to the Government of Canada for citizenship or permanent residence

If you have been approved and nominated by the OINP, the next step is to apply for permanent residence through IRCC.

Application processing times for the provincial nominee program may vary, and yes, the hardest part is waiting for a response!
